Trying My Hand At iPhone Development March 3, 2009

While I don’t mind working on Mac computers occasionally, I am not a Mac guy.  But there’s one thing I’ve got to tell you, the iPhone/iPod Touch is a really sweet little gadget.  I own a Touch.

It feels like liquid computing—so portable and accessible and a very fluid interface.

I started thinking about developing on this platform when me and Robin Harbron made contact with a development studio interested in farming out some work.

But, with the iPhone 3G coming out now, I’ve started to get excited about it, and last night I bought a Mac Mini.  It’s the cheapest Mac you can buy.

Yeah, that’s right.  Sam bought a Mac.  I thought it was strange that at first my credit card transaction would not go through.  Then I thought it was funny when I called American Express just to find that they put a security lock on the account and want to speak with me in person to validate the purchase.

Seems like Amex even knows “Sam doesn’t like Macs”.

Well, I hope to produce something fruitful in the next few days, and I’m hoping to make the ~$750 back to cover the cost of the Mac and would like to make another $600 or so to buy a copy of the Unity 3D engine for iPhone.

We’ll see, but I’ll keep you posted.

Is there any progress on this project? I saw the talk and pics of the golem and scorpion, but that was almost 2 years ago… What has been the progress?

Sorry to say, that project has died. I have been a part of a couple other iOS games tho. See: P1XL Games
